Warning for UK tourism businesses 

The UK is expected to benefit from the current credit crunch with many customers deciding on a holiday at home as one of their breaks this year, however the recent record prices in fuel is leading some holiday businesses to report that holiday-makers are cancelling bookings at last minute, on the theory that the cost of petrol outweighs the loss of the deposit. 

Holiday business owners who do not take deposits or carry insurance could find themselves missing out on much needed income at a prime time of year. 

One option is to focus your marketing on customers who are within the  2 hours “drive time” – traditionally the short break target, but now a primary customer for tourism businesses who wish to ensure their bookings actually turn up!
