Twofour productions are looking for family run businesses in the hospitality sector, to feature in a new observational documentary for BBC2.Keep It In The Family is seeking restaurant, pub, and hotel owners who are struggling to convince their children to become a part of their legacy.
Most family businesses struggle to find a suitable successor to take the reins after retirement, and this simple reason attributes to around 30,000 closures each year. Less than 13 percent of family businesses survive beyond the second generation, mainly because children have become more interested in finding their own path and ‘spreading their wings’.
The documentary will aim to highlight this fact by asking business owners to hand control over to their children for a two-week ‘temporary retirement’ period. The experience of running their own business may just convince the younger generation to stick around in the family firm.
If you have a business that has been in the family for generations but your children are reluctant to carry on the tradition, then let us know on contact@oursource.co.uk and we'll forward your details to the keep in in the family team
